Many ideas on the design table, yet only one enhancing the dune house and its context. Not just a staircase – one adding value. Starting with what is already there: a house anchored between the dunes, opening its doors, inviting everyone to enjoy it. Continuing with what we should preserve: the essence of what it once was: what is missing: the original building and surrounding dunes in their full glory – enhanced. A former second entrance has been closed – the round front porch. How nice it was to enter and exit the building from there, and how inviting the volume used to be, with its rounded, elegant shape on round columns – celebrating the view, proudly facing the landscape. Nostalgia worth repurposing, this time for the public: the volume as a walkway, the current panoramic space and do-station moved upwards. A 360° view. Doubling the round front porch, placing a mirrored copy above the original. Circulation below, observation platforms above. A mirroring – a reinterpretation, a mirage? Subtle in its transparency, honoring what already exists. Legible to all, even from afar! Breathtaking views, an observatory, available for everyone.
