A new building for the Montgomery Police Department in Brussels.
On the site of an old military facility, in the center of the capital.
On the one hand conceived as an open structure with an implantation on the site that creates distinct, well-proportioned and contemporary activity zones at the service of an institution that desires efficiency.
A compact and sustainable building, with a simple and efficient operational structure that maximizes natural light and offers comfortable spaces to the users.
The work, logistics and parking spaces are articulated in a well-zoned whole, punctuated by generous, landscaped patios. A dynamic and flexible Police House. The new building stretches over the entire available length of the plot, providing adequate setbacks for the future development of the adjoining buildings.
On the other hand, challenges inherited from the existing heritage structures on site have to be taken into account, and are perceived as added value.
The historical wing of the barracks is transformed into a common house for all police services, a space organized as a large atrium, a shared landscape and a social hub. A green core, giving the police station a clear identity.
The historical character of the barracks is made extremely legible by putting it back at the center of the urban perception of the site and the project.
